Last night was a great night if you are a fan of hockey and the Boston Bruins which many of us within the Colonial Automotive Group are. After a 39 year drought the Stanley Cup is returning to the hub. In fact, as of the time of this writing, it has arrived in Boston. A parade is planned for Saturday morning at 11:00am. Time to break out the duck boats and celebrate the champs victory in the 2011 Stanley Cup finals. The Boston Bruins are the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions!
A good number of employees at the Colonial Automotive Group followed the ups and downs of this great season and playoffs. Beating the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 in a incredible game 7 on their ice was a storybook ending to a magical season. Tim Thomas was perfect again. Thomas had a record breaking regular season and in the playoffs Thomas untouchable and was the Conn Smythe Trophy recipient. Patrice Bergeron and rookie Brad Marchand each had two goals. Mark Recchi had an assist in the final game of his long and storied career. I can’t think of better way to wrap up a great career with his 3rd Stanley Cup.
On paper Boston was not supposed to win this series against the favored Canucks team which was outstanding during the regular season. Each team had won on their home ice. Boston drubbing the visiting Canucks at the Garden and Vancouver squeaking by at Rogers arena. Game 7 was different, the Bruins were more physical, had greater depth and had contributions from each and every line Claude Julien sent out. Couple that with Tim Thomas’ brilliance in the net and it equals a grand celebration here in Boston.
Everyone here in the Colonial Automotive Group would like to congratulate everyone at the Boston Bruins organization for bringing the Stanley Cup back to Boston.
