Help Colonial’s Dan Fontaine Tap Out Cancer

Colonial’s E-Commerce Director Dan Fontaine is doing his part to Tap Cancer Out, and he needs your help! With only a couple of weeks left to go, Dan and his Abusado teammates are seeking to raise $15,000 in the fight against childhood cancer – and they’re not far away. Donate to help Dan reach his personal goal, and, more importantly, to help find cures for the dozens of childhood cancers that take more kids than any other childhood disease.

About Tap Out

Tap Cancer Out is a jiu-jitsu non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and funds to fight cancer on behalf of the grappling community. This year, their Spring Charity fundraising culminates in a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament on Saturday, April 26 in Stratford, Connecticut, with money raised going to St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

For Dan, It’s Personal

Dan is doing more than just raising money for the cause – he will be competing at the April 26 Stratford tournament in the Master’s Division, gi-only light heavyweight bracket. After training at Simmler Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy for three and a half years and earning his blue belt, Dan is ready to step onto the mats for his third competition.

Even though he uses BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) primarily for fitness, stress relief, and peace of mind, Dan recognizes the importance of the tournament’s cause and chose to participate personally. Cancer has touched two members of his family, and he put his mustache on the line for Movember in both 2011 and 2012.

Tap Cancer Out sent a shout-out to Dan’s Abusado Team and the Simmler BJJ Academy for driving the most donations thus far. But even if the team reaches its $15,000 goal, Tap Cancer Out is aiming to raise $50,000 total, so don’t be shy about donating above and beyond all the way up until the April 26 tournament!
